ART
I have been fascinated with visual expression since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I cannot remember a time in my life where I was not involved in some kind of creative pursuit. For years the only mediums were traditional, and the only venues were small galleries, the classroom, and aquaintances, friends, and family.
Then I discovered the computer, and was fascinated by it. I remember spending hours painting imagined landscapes in the early versions of the Microsoft Paint Software (circa 1987.) I was hooked. Then came the Internet and version 1.0 of Netscape Navigator. Now you could actually create images and share them. What an idea! Web Design started as a means to an end, but I found I enjoyed it.
I still love the tactile experience of traditional art, but a majority of my work is done digitally at this time.
PASSION
I am passionate about creativity and expression, not only in my own life but in the lives of others. The years I spent as a classroom teacher gave me experience in the communication of concepts, ideas, and process to others in a way that was successful.
I am still passionate about inspiring creativity in others, I enjoy collaboration, and do well in environments that encourage it.
I am passionate about freedom of expression, trueness of spirit, and being real.
PROCESS
I work as the lead Web Developer for the College of Education at the University of Houston. I also do graphic design and print layout for them, and some digital photography as well.
I post digital art on a Web Community called deviantArt. It allows me to pursue what I love most....artistic expression.
What I would love to do one day is illustrate a children's book. I would even like to write one and illustrate it myself
